I wish I could give you a better answer. But with COVID expect SOME delays. SW candidates are still shipping as they are “high priority”, but I can tell you from first hand experience leadership is doing their best to mitigate exposer to the virus. Which tends to clog things up in the pipeline. Be patient, keep training, and be on your recruiter for updates. PM me if you have any other questions.Looks like I will have pool access by the end of July, so my packet for CCT should be submitted early August. Assuming that holds, what timeline can I expect regarding notification of a seat, class dates, etc?
Hey man,Hey guys,
Been on here consistently looking for answers about retraining packages and just keeping up with how everything is unfolding currently due to COVID. A little background info about me, I am a ten year TSgt going on 11 in September and I feel that my chances are dwindling the longer I wait to submit a package. I've attempted multiple times, but I have been denied due to having a code-43 in a special duty. My CC is willing to lift my code to pursue retraining into AFSPECWAR, specifically SR, but wants to make sure I can submit a package without being picked up for a new assignment/special duty, etc..
I wanted to apply to retrain, but I am not sure how it is going to work since the new FY2021 retrain advisory dropped last week, and
there are no longer any Tech slots for SR. I know PJ & CCT have a TIS limit for TSgt, but SR does not. Has anyone applied to retrain without any in-quotas for their rank? I'm sure an ETP is expected to attain a slot for a different rank but I am not sure what has to be stated. Does anyone have any info that could help?
Only advice I can give off what you said is do not wait (if you can control it) to start your IFC-III. Even if everything goes smooth and you don't need any waivers, it still can take months to get it submitted and approved by AETC and then sent back to flight med for them to make your 422, but it depends on your flt med clinic and luck. Almost every entity that has to touch/review your flight physical paperwork bottom to top has a "window" of days they are allowed to sit on the paperwork. I have seen people retraining do everything right and still wait 6+ months for it to be done and approved.Hey man,
So I am/was in the same boat as you, although I am just about to hit my 10 year in a couple days. I was going to submit for that TSgt Slot too before it changed. Anyways, what I had to do was ask my Career Assistance Advisor to contact the SR Career Field Manager. He did and the SR CFM was able to contact AFPC and have them change one of their SSgt slots to TSgt so I can apply. I didn't have to submit an ETP or anything, in fact AFPC created my incident and started the process for me. However, I did need to drop my code 43 before anything happened. Currently, I am waiting to start my physical (2 month wait). Have you tried asking your CAA?
