H2 Waiver

Good morning from Tucson,

I got an H2 on my audiogram yesterday. I'm told I can retake it, but I'm just curious if there is a waiver for the slightest bit of hearing loss in one ear? Seems kind of dumb to me, also, so if anyone can explain to me why H1 is so important for flyers/operators I'd greatly appreciate it.

Difficult to answer eligibility for waiver but considering communicating by radio or intercom in a noisy environment is part of the being there doing the inability to comprehend what's being said due to a hearing loss impairment is often sufficient to cause a loss of life or limb accident to happen.
