Prior Service Pipeline

Submitted my package for MAR prior service board, What does the process look like for prior service candidates following submission of application.
For example is there a phase II selection or Modified BA Prep, What do prior service candidates go through prior to A&S ?

Prior to A&S, prior service go through the 8-week SW Prep just like the non-prior service.

Check with a SW recruiter on what prior-service specific course you may have to go through prior to prep. I believe there is a 10-day transition course that essentially takes the place of BMT for prior service.

The official course description (which in a database I do not have access) would provide the prep-course answer for those prior service enlisting into the Air Force. The problem is prior-service enlistment is more specialty specific controlled and managed. The impact is the option to pursue another specialty if qualified for that career field’s entry requirements (such as ASVAB score, PAST, TAPAS, initial Class III/SOD medical certification) isn't as accommodating should the prior service candidate SIE or get eliminated from the training for the specific AFSC need the prior-service was enlisted for.

On the other hand prior-service are expected because of experience gained while wearing of a military uniform and successfully completing one term of enlisted service to not have a need for any preparatory training.

Thanks for the response. I will ask the recruiter for more clarification and confirmation. I was hoping to be able to attend the Prep Course in order to get more specific pool work. I will continue on my current path unless told otherwise.

Thank you.

It has been identified in other threads that if you are waiting to use the SW Prep Course to prepare you, you are setting yourself up for failure! You should be very careful when working with your recruiter and getting your report date timed out, and leave yourself enough time to train prior to SW Prep. The Prep in SW Prep is a misnomer, and to think that passing the PAST sets you up for SW Prep and that sets you up for "passing" A&S! They are not natural progressions to each other as a lot of people think....they do not necessarily link together in neat little packages. Do your research and train well ahead of SW Prep.

An update on prior service and prep:
SW Prep is looking at including prior service into the course and may include it at a future date. But per Prep's staff, it should not be expected and is not official at this time.
With that being said, a prior service heading to A&S at this time may run into the inclusion of prep. Like all things in the SW initial courses of entry, things are in flux and in continual phases of refinement.
The lesson? As we continually preach here, be prepared for all challenges and don't expect any pre-course to iron out your weaknesses beforehand.
