Reserve to active. Rank drop

hello, I am in the reserve currently and am looking to transfer to active duty for SWOE. I am currently a 6 year and 7 month TSgt and am trying to drop a rank so I may be eligible for the pipeline. One recruiter told me dropping rank “isn’t a thing” but I have been told other wise. Any info?

AFMAN 36-2032 pg 48 has your guidance. But the recruiters should be the experts on this. You could argue that your rank is not commensurate with your new position.

Why do you think an E-6 is not eligible for the pipeline?
